On Thursday November 9th 2023, together with students from other Austrian Universities, Magdalena Rusch received the Hans Roth environmental award at the headquarters of Saubermacher in Feldkirchen. She was awarded for her recently successfully defended dissertation on the potential of digital technologies for sustainable product management in a circular economy.
The goal of the Hans Roth award is the exchange between science, business and technology in order to promote environmental protection and to further think through and advance the challenges of the circular economy. During the evaluation, particular emphasis is placed on the innovative content, the originality of the approaches and their practicality for daily use. Important criteria also include economic and ecological benefits as well as the reduction of harmful greenhouse gases. Hans Roth, Saubermacher founder and sponsor of the prize, is impressed by the expertise and originality of the submitted work: “Waste management thrives on innovations. What is important for this is the competent training of our young talents. It is very important to me personally to support these young people. I warmly congratulate all winners on their outstanding research work, which is primarily made available to the company and society.” This award has been presented annually since 2005 at five Austrian and three Slovenian universities.
