The principle of a circular economy contributes to environmental and social sustainability. The Christian Doppler Laboratory for Sustainable Product Management in a Circular Economy researches how digital technologies can be used to improve the circularity and sustainability of products and services over their life cycle.
To this end, tools, methods and concepts are being developed to survey the environmental and social sustainability of products and services and to take this into account in product development. In cooperation with corporate partners, for example, the topics of digital product passports, evaluation and optimization of vehicle concepts in early product development phases, or the use of digital technologies in sustainability assessment are being worked on.
