Organizational
We are part of the Institute of Environmental Systems Science of the URBI Faculty of the University of Graz and thus integrated into an interdisciplinary research environment.
Under the leadership of Prof. Baumgartner, our team is intensively engaged in the topics of sustainable management, circular economy and the influence of digital product management.
High quality research is ensured through funding from the Christian Doppler Society and our corporate partner (see Cooperations) and has led to many publications in journals since the lab started in 2019 (see Our Research).
Milestones
Opening event April 4, 2019
In an effort to support the ambitious Circular Economy Strategy action plan adopted by the European Union, this research laboratory acts as a creative space for developing and conducting research in sustainable product management, the results of which will support the transition towards a circular economy. As a result of the research work, methods and concepts are developed for the collection of ecological and social data on products and services from the supply chain, the use phase and the end-of-life phase. This data will be used for the ecological and social evaluation and design of products and services, as well as for further applications (e.g., reporting, compliance management).
The Christian Doppler Laboratory was officially opened on Thursday, 4 April 2019, in the Meerscheinschlössl Graz. Here you can view the program and read selected presentations.
LOI partners meeting in October 2019
On the 4th of October 2019 the CD-Lab for Sustainable Product Management enabling a Circular Economy invited their "Letter of intent" (LOI) partners to a first welcome meeting at the University of Graz. To ensure the practical relevance of the research in the CD-Lab, experts from industry are integrated into the research activities. Especially the data collection for the empirical research steps will be organized together with the corporate partners iPoint and ARA AG and the LOI partners.
In this first meeting the CD-Lab team welcomed the LOI partners with a workshop about Sustainable Product Management in a Circular Economy context. The emphasis was on the experiences and current practices of the participants regarding sustainable and circular data management. Thank you very much for providing us with such interesting insights from practice!
A special thanks to our participants from Magna Steyer, Saubermacher, Ronal Group, Attribui, Cleantech Cluster, AC Styria, AVL and ipoint. As well as for the support from the SIS colleagues and CRESTING network.
Successful evaluation in June 2023
In June 2023, the CD Laboratory was successfully evaluated for the remaining 2 years of the seven-year grant period. The evaluation included a report and a presentation of the former and active members of the CD Laboratory. Additionally, questions had to be answered and an outlook on the planned next steps had to be given.
