Due to her completing the master’s program in Environmental Systems Sciences at the University of Graz, Katharina was able to gain expertise regarding sustainability assessment and circular economy-related topics. For instance, she gained firsthand expertise regarding life cycle assessments due to her master’s thesis, which focused on identifying critical life cycle hot-spots of a wood-based vehicle component.
After several internships, Katharina decided to continue her journey on the academic path to pursue her PhD. “This decision came fairly easy because in my perception, this path offers me the best options in terms of professional and personal growth, as well as fulfillment.” she said.
Her PhD is aiming to develop a concept for the continuous product labelling of an automotive component with a digital sustainable circularity twin, hence aiming at tapping into the potential of digitalization for fostering a sustainable product management. The PhD is carried out in cooperation with the AVL List GmbH and one of the first steps will take place in the form of the first meeting with representatives of AVL in the beginning of October.
When Katharina is off the job, she enjoys learning languages and traveling. Furthermore, she has recently picked up again her piano play.
